DREADWRAPS
DREADWRAP STYLES!
(click on an image to expand it and get the written instructions on what to do)
the "Black Moor" aka "Othello"
Strangely enough this style dates way back to when the Spaniards ruled the seas, and created the shipping routes that were utilized by the Dutch and were known as the dutch east Indies trade routes and colonies. Most of the ship labourers were in fact African in origin and there story is told in shakespeares "Othello" they were known as "Moors" many of which had dreads either by design or years at sea. We know many if not most the Indians that were also employed at the time were deferred to Shiva and the Sadhus and thus had dreads. This style was adopted since way back then (15th Century) it served to protect their dreads from the Harshness of Ship life and working the seas, as well as stopping dreads from getting caught up in anything. It also serves to trap brow sweat and stop it from being wiped away into dreads making them stink! and at the same time allowing Dreads to Breath so that they themselves dont sweat.
"THE MUSASHI"
In Fuedal Japan, men wore their hair like in a bun (often to hide carbuncles) on the top of their heads, held by mere chopsticks they came undone, especially during battle. After his near death at the battle of Segihara (1513) Takezo Miyamoto broke custom and tradition and sought a more functional way to wear his hair. He used a strip of his torn outfit to tie his hair amongst other things. He quickly became easily recognizable (his 6'5 height and growing fighting reputation aside) with this look. Takezo Miyamoto at the tender age of 18 was dead and SHIMEN Miyamoto Musashi was Born! (for a complete understanding you can read the life and times of Musashi by Eiji Taragawa)
THE EGYPTIAN aka THE SPHINX
One of our favourites for being simple, easy, practical and looks great. It is also the best wrap for bedtime! it also has a variation that you can find below
THE SHAYK (SHEIK) aka The Taliban or the Nazawrap
This wrap gets its name obviously from being middle eastern and has been worn with either towel or wrap since ancient times. It is most likely that it was invented by the Nazarites in the time of Joshua as they crossed the desert, however we do not have the means to prove it. however in more recent times its been known as the the Shayk and since 9/11 has been mocked and called the Taliban as it resembles the middle eastern Turban.

THE ODDYSEUS
This wrap lends is named after one of the greatest figures of all time! although he himself did not have dreadlocks, he did like his best friends Achilles, Agamemnon and Menalaus have long thick hair. Oddyseus aka Sinbad was the man who thought up the trojan horse and won the war, he is also the man that spent 29 years (most of which at sea) to get home to Ithaca (Read the Oddysey By Homer) this wrap stops hair or dreads from moving, keeps them firmly in one place, hence Oddysayos used this wrap to brace for fighting, landiong on foreign shores and was used to hear the song of the sirens, when he was tyed to the mast. Due to dread length and wrap sizes not everyone can acheive this wrap. Our head loctitian JUST makes it. Due to the tightness and firmness of this wrap we dont recommend its use for sleeping, as it may cause headaches when you wake up!
